Impact assessments are growing in scope and complexity
In our 2018 sector profile, we estimated that impact assessments account for $260 million in salaries, wages, commissions and benefits for approximately 4,000 full-time environmental consultants.
IA management professionals play an increasingly important role as awareness of human impact on the environment expands globally. The Government of Canada has made significant progress to catch up with industry-leading practices. New impact assessment regulations now recognize Traditional Knowledge and account for social factors in conjunction with traditional biophysical impacts.
